Report No. 5: Six Months With a Wave Master Digital Perm Machine in Moscow
Report No. 5. This is my own project: six months of working on a Korean digital perm machine in Moscow, from getting it shipped to the settings I use.

In short. This report is about my own project, the Versiya Lab studio in Moscow. I work on a Korean Wave Master digital perm machine, the same type used at the seminar in Seoul in March 2026 (Report No. 1). Getting one shipped to Russia took about two years of refusals. I bought it in March 2026, it reached Moscow at the end of April, and since May I have done 5-8 digital perms a month on it. Clients come back for a repeat. On Slavic hair I do not go above 120 °C, although the machine goes to 140.
How it was
For about two years Korean sellers answered the same thing: we don't ship to Russia. In Seoul in March 2026 I saw the machine at work in the academy's demonstration: the screen, the wires, the heated rods. I bought the machine together with a set of rods in March 2026. It reached Moscow at the end of April.
In May I did about five digital perms on it; since then it has been 5-8 a month, every digital perm in the studio.
What I got
- Heat I control. The machine holds one set temperature per pass. I change it during the procedure, for example a pass at 120 °C and then one at 60 °C. On Slavic hair I stay at 120 °C or below, although the machine goes to 140. Slavic hair is finer than Korean hair and takes the solution faster.
- Rods. For the digital perm I use 22 mm rods: a large, soft curl that shows on dry hair.
- Results that come back. Clients from the first months came back for a second perm: the wave had relaxed calmly, the regrowth was soft and the hair was alive and shiny.
- What the machine does not do. It holds heat and time. Everything else is the stylist: the solution, how long it stays, the test strand and the neutraliser. Two stylists on the same machine get different curls.

Who it suits and who it doesn't
It suits a studio or stylist who wants to offer the Korean digital perm as a main service and is ready to learn it properly: the machine does not replace training. It does not make sense for a salon that will do one perm a month.
Verdict
9/10. 5-8 perms a month without a fault; minus one for two years spent finding a seller who ships.

Can you buy a Korean digital perm machine outside Korea?
Yes, but many Korean sellers do not ship to every country, and that is what took me two years. The machine I work on is available through silkybon.com.
What temperature do you use on Slavic hair?
Not above 120 °C, though the machine goes to 140, and I change it during the procedure.
How long does a digital perm on this machine last?
My clients come back for a repeat after about four to six months. Digital perms usually hold for up to six months, longer on thick hair.
